Why Do Cosmetic Companies Love Fragrance?

So, today I have more of a little rant really than anything else. I really wanted to do a post about what products I have on my beauty wishlist, but alas I have not made it that far as of yet. Now, the only requirements I am looking for really in beauty products is that they are alcohol-free, fragrance-free, and also free of essential oils. But my god cosmetic companies just love their fragrance don’t they?

As someone who has very sensitive skin, I have been learning what has been causing irritation to my skin, and what doesn’t. Since I have been cutting fragranced products out of my routine (skincare & beauty), I have noticed a difference in how my skin looks and feels.

Fragrance is also known to be irritating. Alcohol is very drying. Essential oils can also be very irritating.

I’ve got quite a small collection of makeup at this stage of my life, and I am wanting to make it even smaller to a select few products. So, in the hopes of using up what I’ve got, I’ve been attempting to create a list of things that I would like to buy in replacement, that will hopefully be a lot better for my skin health.

Whilst there are a lot of makeup brands that do not use alcohol now, or essential oils, so many use fragrance. It is getting on my last nerve. Am I really the only person who does not care what a foundation smells like??? I do not understand their obsession with it. It can be so irritating, and let’s be real, it really is completely unnecessary.

I mean as an example, out of 83 primers, 1 of them had no alcohol, fragrance and essential oils… I mean… come onnnnn.

If you have any recommendations yourself, please do share. I am honestly starting to pull my hair out over this!
